Radisys, San Diego, CA - July 2011 to April 2016

·   Systems Architect, Staff

o   Lead software architect for Radisys LTE Small cell, Core Network and Trillium branded telecom protocol stack solutions. Responsible for software architecture design, development and end-to-end integration testing of wireless (cellular) network infrastructure software solutions e.g., small cells, MME, SGW/PGW, HeNB-GW etc. Strong knowledge of small cell architecture, RAN stack (L2/L3) porting & testing on 3rd party SoC/PHY  and 3GPP call flows for Access/Non-Access Stratum protocols (RRC, RLC/MAC, NAS, S1-AP/GTP, Diameter).

o In-depth understanding of LTE network infrastructure ecosystem and vendors – Small cell SoCs (Intel, Broadcom, Octasic), EPC platforms (Intel x86/COTS, Packet Processors – Netlogic XLP, Cavium Octeon). Engaged in multiple RAN and EPC stack integration activities on SoC and x86 platforms. Well versed with fast path architectures (DPDK) for scalable and high performance data plane nodes – SGW/PGW, SGSN/GGSN

o Core Member of Technical Staff responsible for detailed software architecture design of RAN solutions for next generation cellular networks – Small cells and Centralized (cloud) RAN applications. Extensive experience with software development on multi-core, multi-threaded compute environments, Linux OS e.g., architecting and optimizing L2+ RAN protocol stacks on SoC (ARM CPU), Intel x86 (COTS) for commercial small cells, cloud based RAN deployments, and network-in-a-box type applications etc.

o Key member of LTE EPC architecture transformation for a data center as per ON.Lab (ONOS) M-CORD project initiative. Responsible for defining split control/data plane architecture for Radisys PGW in line with SDN/NFV model and integration with 3rd party RAN and vEPC solutions to build an end-to-end LTE network hosted on Open Compute/COTS platforms. The solution was successfully demonstrated at ONS Summit in March 2016 and resulted in company becoming an official systems integrator for M-CORD.

o Led integration and testing of Radisys RAN, and EPC software solutions on a small cell SoC + ComE module (small form factor x86 board) to build a ruggedized LTE network-in-a-box solution.
